What is Botox?
BOTOX is an FDA-approved treatment to make lines and wrinkles look smoother. It works by relaxing facial muscles, and less muscle movement contributes to less lines. Am I a candidate for Botox?
This treatment works well on a wide range of patients. It is important to note that it’s not your age that determine if you’re a candidate, it is the use case and, if you’re looking to reduce the look of lines and wrinkles, the severity of your lines.
Anyone suffering from medical conditions such as damaged nerves or muscular conditions should inform the attending physician during the initial consultation to avoid any complications. At Monroe Buffalo, we also strongly advise against undergoing any treatment while you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
When can I see Botox results?
Results after Botox could appear instantly. In some cases, it may take up to 7-14 days to see full treatment results. Botox results typically last up to three months following the treatment. We suggest repeat treatments regularly to maintain the results.
Can I resume daily activities immediately after treatment?
We start the treatment by cleansing your skin and removing any makeup on the treatment sites. After the treatment, you won’t be able to wear makeup for about three hours after. You may see little red spots in the area of injection immediately afterwards. There may be some bruising, though for some of our clients they have no marks at all.
What does getting Botox feel like?
Some patients say it feels like acupuncture. Botox for crows feet hardly hurts at all, whereas frown lines are said to be slightly more sensitive to the needle. Topical anesthetic can be used to numb the skin before hand if pain is a concern, though many of our clients opt for skipping given the discomfort was minimal.
